🎶 It's Been Oh, So Quiet 🎵

It's Been Oh, So Quiet... (and because of that, this is a bit of a long one, so please stay with me! :)

I've been MIA when it comes to this email newsletter and not because I don't appreciate each and everyone of you... it's because I keep getting taken down by illnesses in my family!

We have been sick at least 8 times in the past 10 months - and not little illnesses - like knock you out, kick you down to the ground, and toss you around a little bit kind of illnesses. We just cannot seem to catch a break over here!

I'm just hoping and crossing every finger, leg, and arm that we will finally have a little grace after our most recent health bout, which, after evading it for the entire pandemic, was Covid. My three-year-old managed to get it twice in one month... so that was fun...

Anyways, here I am picking myself back up for what seems like the millionth time, hopeful that I will finally have a good stretch of time to reorient, get my bearings, and get back on track. Still, it's hard and even though I know a lot of ways to nourish my nervous system and manage my stress, I find myself overwhelmed.

I imagine that life has felt much the same for you over the past few years. Many of us are so burntout and overwhelmed that taking care of ourselves is difficult, especially when we are expected to be on the go ad infinitum.

All of this burnout, stress, and overwhelm in the world is why I started Terra Nova Somatic Arts. After years of coping with and healing actue PTSD, chronic pain, and invisible disabilities, I have learned multiple, magnificent ways to ease the pain, stress, and discomfort of life. For a long time, I wasn't in the right place to share these tools with others, but now I am.

I am so excited to finally begin reaching the people who need what I have to offer! Keep reading below to learn more about how I am bringing my hardearned wisdom, skills, and teachings to the world...

My Latest News - Yomassage and More...

While a lot still hangs in the air due the the constant health challenges my family and I have been facing, there are many, wonderful things on the horizon. One such thing is the Yomassage classes that I will soon be offering at LiveWell Camas.

Yomassage is a blended modality that incorporates supported stretch, breathwork, and therapeutic touch. The goal of Yomassage is for clients to find 100% comfort in their bodies and to walk away in a deep state of relaxation at the end of the session. Yomassage is great for anybody who is burntout, stuck in a fight/flight stress mode, has trauma, or is coping with anxiety.

I'm still working on getting my first class dates locked down with LiveWell, so keep checking this newsletter, my Instagram or Facebook, and/or my website for the latest developments!

Somatic Coaching for Burnout, Stress Release, Building Resilience, and Living Intentionally

Somatic coaching is basically life coaching with a body-centered, neurobiological approach. I am a Certified Life Coach through The Dragontree and I have done additional, specific training over many years in somatic work, creativity studies, and mindfulness (most recently with Coaches Rising in their Power of Embodied Transformation course). I have combined my life coaching expertise with somatic, mindfulness, and creativity tools to design a truly remarkable service that people love.

In coaching, my clients gain clarity on their goals and desires, assess their internal and external support systems, and learn simple tools and techniques that work in concert with their nervous systems to permanently shift mindset, create new habits, reduce reactivity, and remove blocks caused by trauma and ingrained stress-responses. By doing this, they are able to more easily realize their goals, reduce their overall stress, anxiety, and overwhelm, and grow their resilience in the face of life's difficulties.

Here's a very kind testimonial from one of my clients:

"Nova's holistic approach is thoughtful, approachable, and powerful! After each session I felt enlightened with a new outlook on my struggles, and came away with brilliant yet simple coping mechanisms to help me on my journey. I feel like I grew exponentially as a person and I cherish the nourishing insight I gained, it will forever live in my toolkit. I highly recommend working with Nova! My six weeks with her were honestly more transformational than a year of therapy." - Amy

Trauma-Informed Services

All of my services are truama-informed. This means that I have completed special training on the signs and symptoms of trauma and ways to treat and respond to it within my scope of practice. I am also continually deepening my understanding and knowledge base regarding trauma and I always refer out when a clients needs fall outside of my competency as a practitioner.

I am passionate about working with clients experiencing the effects of trauma, but even people who aren't traumatized can be hugely helped by the somatic tools that I incorporate in my offerings. When it comes down to it, everyone needs to learn skills for self-regulation, resilience building, and stress release and ultimately, that is what Terra Nova Somatic Arts is here to teach.

If you have any questions about how my work can help with trauma or stress, please respond to this email, I would love to have a chat with you about it!

One last thing...

As I said at the beginning of this letter, I have been continually knocked down by illnesses over the last 10 months. I thought I would be much futher ahead in my business than I am by now and it's been rough to say the least. Since last October when I was laid off from my full-time job (which was unsustainably stressful) I have poured my heart and soul into getting Terra Nova Somatic Arts launched and off the ground so that I can realize my dream of making the world more kind, compassionate, and wonderful.

Despite all of the constant obstacles (the illnesses being one of many) I have persisted in making this business happen. However, it is only so long that I can float on hope alone. I am the sole provider for two wild kiddos and I long for the opportunity build this business into something sustainable for us. I cannot do it alone.

If you would, please consider making a donation towards the ongoing success of my business. Of course, hiring me for my services is better than donating, but if you are not ready or able to do that, even a small donation could help this single mama and her two kids lift out of a life of struggle and into one of sustained abundance. Your help will not go unnoticed. To make a donation, click the button below!

If you have made it this far, thank you so much! I am so grateful to have this budding community of people who care deeply about their ongoing wellness. I'm here for you, so don't hesitate to reach out anytime!

Warmly,

Nova

J. Nova Gump, LMT Terra Nova Somatic Arts March 15th My New Side Venture: A Dream Come True in the Making? ↓ Hi Friend! So, I was going to send you a letter about how much I'm failing at business right now and how ironic it is since I recently began developing a group course all about helping my fellow perfectionists discover how awesome failure actually is! (I mean, it is, but it's also, kinda not, too...) And just to deepen the irony, I spent hours trying to write said letter with a level...

J. Nova Gump, LMT March 5 Plan Actions Not Results... Wait, what? Aren't outcomes most important? ↓ Dear Friend, Happy March! We made it into the 3rd month of the year in one peice (hopefully). Go ahead and join me in giving yourself a pat on your back for whatever things (whether tiny or massive) you accomplished last month. Remember, life is often very haaaaaard! So, sometimes the most insignificant wins are what we need to celebrate to keep ourselves going. One of my wins is continuing to...

I have just a few pieces up, but there is more coming soon! Recently, I posted an exploration prompted by this quote by the poet and writer Rainer Maria Rilke: “Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written...
